8 oz flour
2 oz margarine
3 oz sugar
1/4 tsp mixed spice
1 egg
1/2 tsp baking powder
2 oz lard
2 oz currants
Pinch of salt
A little milk
Method - rub fat into flour. Add dry ingredients, then egg and milk. Mix into a stiff paste, as stiff as for short pastry. Roll out into rounds and bake on a griddle, or non-stick frying pan.
