3/4 Cup of Shortening
1 Cup of White Sugar
1 Egg (Beaten)
4 Tbsp Molasses
2 Level Tsp of Baking Soda
2 Cups of Flour
1 Tsp Ginger
1 Tsp Cloves
1 Tsp Cinnamon
Pinch of Salt
Cream shortening and sugar. Add egg and molasses and mix well. Sift the flour, baking soda, ginger, cloves, cinnamon and salt. Add the sifted ingredients to the shortening/sugar/molasses mixture. Form the dough into balls (the size of a walnut). Dip balls in sugar and place them on cookie sheets. Flatten the balls down. Bake in 345 degree oven for 15 minutes.
