The origin of the name Albee is Scottish and the Coat of Arms contains Silver with a green tree surmounted by a sword on the tip of which there is a crown. The Crest is A thistle emerging from a crown.

Spelling variations include: MacAlpine, MacAlpin, MacAilpein (Gaelic) and others.

First found in Argyllshire where they were seated from very ancient times, some say well before the Norman Conquest and the arrival of Duke William at Hastings in 1066 A.D.

Some of the first settlers of this name or some of its variants were: Robert MacAlpin settled in New York State in 1740; William MacAlpine settled in New York in 1774; Hugh and James MacAlpin settled in New York in 1811.
